Latest international rankings show Indian institutions lead G20.
The new QS World University Rankings by Subject show a tremendous rise in Indian universities among G20 nations. In a milestone for Indian higher education, QS Quacquarelli Symonds President Nunzio Quacquarelli shared his thoughts on LinkedIn. Indian universities’ average ranking rose 14% and research output rose 54% from 2017 to 2022.
India has one of the world’s fastest-growing research outputs. His post said that its research output increased 54% from 2017 to 2022, making it the world’s fourth-largest producer.
Success was attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. After talking to the Prime Minister, Quacquarelli highlighted the strong desire to revolutionize Indian education, “reflected in the ambitious targets within the NEP”.

India is prominent in 44 of 55 subjects. The Computer Science, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Business Studies, and Physics performances stand out. The Institutes of Eminence (IoE) helped 69 Indian universities rank in the top 100 across subjects.
In Asia, India ranks second in QS Subject Rankings for featured universities, after China.
He congratulated universities, administrators, staff, and students whose hard work has elevated Indian higher education.
